{sweet shoppe party} behind the scenes

For my kids parties, I love to use as much stuff around the house that I already have and do a few DIY projects.  Let me first start by saying, any DIY project I show you is so not going to be perfect. I am definitely not the "go to" queen for DIY's.  But, it works for me and it looks great at the party in the end.  So I am totally fine that.  So here are a few "Behind the Scenes" photos of the few DIY's that I did create for the party.

I knew I wanted to have the party in the dining room, so I tried to think of easy ways to really make it as colorful and Sweet Shoppe like as I could.  The first thing I did was buy polka dot wrapping paper at Hobby Lobby and wrapped our dining room pictures.  I have to say, I LOVED this look!  I didn't even want to take them down.  How tacky is that!  This is such an easy decorating idea that I love.

Next up is the banners you can see hanging in our "Sweet Shoppe'.  For those, Madelyn and I went to Joann's and purchased fabric that matched the invitation and overall color scheme.

We then traced triangles and cut them out. A lot out!  This was a great project for her to help me with.

After cutting out all the triangles, we used spray adhesive to glue the triangles on the back of a wide ribbon.  There you have it.  A cute, inexpensive little banner for your party!

I realized I had way too much fabric left over so I bought sticks at Joann's and made fabric lollipops to put into vases.  Okay so remember I said that I am not the perfect DIYer.  These pictures explain it all!  I figured the party is for 8 year olds and they won't see the back.  It doesn't need to be perfect!  So we used cardboard circles, leftover fabric, sticks and spray adhesive.  Easy peesy as Madelyn would say!  Oh and I used packing tape to tape the stick on.  Again, not perfect.

I sprayed the adhesive onto the front of the cardboard circle and made sure to smooth out the fabric.

Then I just taped the back.  Yup, totally not perfect.

Here is one set of them in a vase.

My cute little helper, Carson.

{halloween} free printables

I don't know about you, but the Halloween Countdown is on {46 days} and I must admit I am the one who has started it.  We live in a small town and Halloween is just the best here.  Plus I love all the decorating.  I mean really, it just kicks off months of fun decorating all the way through Christmas!  I'm not big into the blood and guts of Halloween.  I'm more of a classic pumpkins kinda girl.  So to kick off the season, here is a Free Printable I want to share with you.

The first is an 8x10 print that is very classic with the black and orange.

 It would look great framed and placed on a desk or mantle.
I also designed a set of 3 inch round tags/stickers/labels that would are perfect for Treat Bags and Parties.  Print them on cardstock or label paper and use a 3 inch punch {found at your local craft store} to punch them out and you are ready to go!

You may also choose to have these Printable personalized.  If you would like to do so, visit our Etsy Shoppe for the Stickers and Sign.

{new product} address subway art

This Labor Day weekend was spent getting a lot of around the house projects done that have been on our "to-do" list for quite awhile now.  We have been in our house for 5 years and it is the longest we have lived in one place.  I don't have the itch to move, but I definitely have the itch to redecorate.  For me, that basically means take what I already have and switch it up.  So 3 old frames and a little brown spray paint later, I was ready to begin a little project that's been on my mind...Art prints to recognize the homes we have built and lived in.

Nothing too fancy, but personal.  I choose not to include the two apartments we lived in while homes were being built.  We did not make those "homes".  The were just a temporary space for us.  So up they went {yes we need to work on the spacing issue, I know} and I couldn't be happier.

I love how the look in the hallway.  Plus they are so easy to print that I can always change up the colors if and when I grow tired of the chocolate and orange.
For those of you who are address hoppers and move around a lot, I understand you would not want a dozen framed addresses in your home {although that really good look great!}, so here is a version just for you.
These are now available as 8x10 printables in the Etsy Shoppe.  Personalize with your address and color choices.  Print it for yourself or have one designed as a
House Warming or Hostess Gift.

{summer fun}

Tomorrow is Madelyn's last day of school and she will officially be a 2nd grader! Although my boys still get me up at 6:30, it will still be nice to not hear the alarm each morning. I am looking forward to lazy days by the pool, movies to avoid the heat and lots of s'mores nights. I am loving all the ideas I have found to make a Summer List with your family. I am going to kick off summer by doing this tomorrow when Madelyn gets home from school. Maybe I'll even start today! First up are a few printables I am loving. Something fun to frame and place on the mantel to celebrate the season. Next is a great idea to take with you wherever you travel this summer. Lastly, are some DIY projects. I posted the chalkboard idea on my Facebook page awhile back and I am just in awe of this idea. Truly, I have to have it. I just need to find the space and convince the husband!

{fab find} pinata

Recently I was on the hunt for a Superhero Pinata for a customer of mine. While searching, I found the most amazing Pinatas ever! The shop, TripleJCrafts is a small business run by owner, Joy. She specializes in custom pinatas which are truly to die for and I am not a huge pinata girl. Stop by and give Joy a visit when you are planning your next party.

If you are super crafty and feel you would love to make a pinata on your own, I found a simple, fun tutorial for you. Enjoy!

{diy party decor}

Simple, easy and inexpensive is the best way to decorate a party, especially for the kids. I love this tray idea! All that is needed is a frame, a little paint if you like and some large construction paper to place under the glass. You could easily change it to any theme party! Use a fancy scalloped frame for Baby and Wedding Showers.
